The DL441 Quad Auto Compressor/Limiter packs four channels of Drawmer's renowned DL241 Auto Compressor into a compact 1U chassis. It combines sophisticated automated circuitry with precise manual control, allowing engineers to control dynamic range and peak levels with accuracy.
Each channel features an auto attack/release compressor and a variable threshold peak level limiter on the output, delivering musical compression and transparent peak control. High-resolution bar-graph displays show gain reduction and output level simultaneously, ideal for darkened studios or live environments.
Each compressor can operate in Hard or Soft knee mode. In Soft mode, the ratio increases smoothly over a 10dB range for natural, musical compression. In Hard mode, the selected ratio is applied immediately once the signal crosses the threshold, providing tighter, more controlled gain management that is perfect for broadcast use or for shaping drums, guitars, and vocals with a distinctive compressed sound.
Selectable auto attack and release continuously adapt to the incoming signal, preserving transients while preventing excessive peaks. The result is smooth, responsive compression that minimises pumping and breathing. It is especially effective when processing material with unpredictable dynamics, such as full mixes, vocals, or bass instruments.
Drawmer's Zero Response Time, Zero Overshoot limiter circuitry ensures absolute control over output peaks. Adjustable from 0dB to +16dB above system level, it delivers distortion-free limiting and complete protection against overloads, making it ideal for both mastering and speaker system safety.
